How to Buy Job Pointer

Thank you for deciding to register your Pointer. When you do so, you will be able to use full-grown JP right away. Purchasing Job Pointer is very simple but does require you to use a Mastercard or Visa credit card. At the present time, this is the only way you can buy Job Pointer.

Job Pointer uses J. River Inc.'s Buy Button technology for your convenience and security.

Convenience
Using the Buy Button, once you compete your purchase you will be able to use all of the bookmarks and features in Job Pointer immediately. You do not have to wait for us to email you a registration key. As soon as your credit card is approved and you save your registration information, the program is fully enabled, all the bookmarks are unlocked and you can get on with your job hunt.

Security
Your credit card information is securely encrypted. After the transaction is complete, it is stored only on your computer and only in the encrypted form. During the transaction process your credit card information is transmitted in its encrypted form only to J. River's secure authorization server. Dog-ear Development Company does not receive your credit card number.

How to buy JP

1. Go to the Help menu, select "Register Your Pointer" and click on it. A billing information screen will appear.

2. Complete the User Information area. All fields must be completed in User Information including your valid email address so you will get your receipt (All receipts are sent via email.)
   
   (The information you enter is automatically entered for you in the Cardholder Information area.)

3. If you need to make any changes in the Cardholder Information area from what you entered under User Information, please do it now. All information is required except for Company Name, which is only required if it appears on your credit card. Click OK.
   
   (By working this way, the Buy Button allows you to have different user information and credit card information. For instance, you want your registered user name to be "Bill," but the name on your credit card is William.)

4. You will be asked to enter a password. Please choose a password you will remember easily, enter it, then click OK.
   
   (The password allows you to retrieve your billing information at a later date if you want to buy other products that use the Buy Button. Note: this information is stored only on your computer and the credit card number is securely encrypted.)

5. A confirmation screen will appear so you can confirm that the cardholder and credit card information is correct. It should exactly match your credit card account information. Click Buy.

6. Wait for credit card authorization. Once your credit card is approved a screen will appear telling you "Registration is complete." Click OK.

7. A "Save as" screen will appear. You should save your registration information file in the Job Pointer directory. Click Save.

You will be returned to Job Pointer, where you can now use all of JP's bookmarks and features. Thanks for buying the full-grown Pointer.

IMPORTANT: You should backup your registration information file onto a removeable media, such as a floppy diskette. By doing so, you can restore your registration in case you replace or upgrade your hard drive, get a new computer system, want to use JP on your laptop, etc. Please note that your credit card information is included in this file. Although it is securely encrypted, it is not wise to distribute this file or store it on publicly accessible areas such as network drives or internet servers.
